Information for participants
LEUVEN is a typical university town: one quarter of its population consists of students. Needless to say that it has a pleasant atmosphere and lots of pubs, restaurants, and terraces.
Leuven also has a privileged place on the planet: it is less than
seventy kilometers away from the geographical centre of the current
European Union, and its unofficial capital, Brussels, is just twenty
kilometers to the West. At the same time, it belongs
to the area where the Romance and Germanic cultures mix and mingle.
Not surprisingly, Leuven has inherited from both; while the
language is Dutch and the landscape flat, the cooking is
French style and there is an air of laissez-faire.
