Erasmus: Arts, Language and Cognitive Science

Commission of the European Communities
Coordinator: F. Drijkoningen (Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht)
Contact person for Leuven: S. Top (General information, Arts), F. Van Eynde (Summer School, Linguistics, Gognitive Science)

This programme concerns the exchange of students and teaching staff between the universities of Groningen, Leuven, Arhus, München, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Siena, Milano, Dublin, Oxford, Reading, Edinburgh, Saarbrücken, Tübingen, Lisbon, London, Helsinki and Bergen.

Next to its exchange schemes the programme also concerns the ``Development of Joint Curricula'' and ``Intensive Programmes''. The latter has developed into the European Summer School in Language, Logic and Information.

Tempus: Language, Cognitive Science and Information Technology

Commission of the European Communities
Coordinator: F. Zwarts (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) J. van Benthem (Universiteit van Amsterdam)
Contact person for Leuven: I. Schuurman

This Tempus-programme is an extension of the Erasmus-programme ``Arts, Language and Cognitive Science''. It involves the Universities of Groningen, Amsterdam, Twente, Leuven, Toulouse, Reading, Milano, Siena, Saarbrücken, München, Edinburgh, Budapest, Poznan, Warschau, Wroclaw, Praha, Beograd and Sofia and the Academies of Science of Hungary, Servia and Bulgaria.

It has two objectives: upgrading the computational facilities, libraries and communication networks at the Eastern European institutions, and the transfer of knowledge between East and West by means of an exchange programme for students, university teachers and researchers.

In the framework of (other) faculty TEMPUS, TACIS and INTAS-projects and interchange programmes, the CCL regularly hosts guests from Eastern Europe for demonstrations and consultation. CCL-colleagues accompany lecturers to the universities involved.

Wetenschappelijke Onderzoeksgemeenschap Computerlinguïstiek en Taaltechnologie

Nationaal Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek
Universities of Antwerpen, Leuven (CCL) and Gent
Other participants: research centres at the universities of Manchester, Sheffield, Saarbrücken, Liège, Namur, Dublin and Tilburg

The aim of this network is to enhance cooperation between the three Flemish participants and to foster links with similar centres in other countries. Activities in order to achieve this aim include the organization of workshops and conferences, the invitation of guest lecturers, the promotion of the domain of computational linguistics as an area of relevance for both academia and industry.
